Windows By George has been in business since 1987. In a trade with almost no barrier to entry — a ladder, a bucket and a magnetic sign will get anyone started — that is the number that actually means something.
Exterior cleaning has a high turnover of one-season operators. They quote low, work through a summer, and are gone by the time anyone needs them again. The awkward part for a homeowner is that you cannot tell the difference on the phone. Everybody sounds confident, and everybody says they do a good job.
What you can check is whether a business was here last year, and the year before that. We were. Since 1987 the industry has changed, the neighbourhoods have changed, and the water has stayed exactly as hard as it always was.
The estimate is free and there is no obligation attached. If a job turns out to be different from what was described on the phone, we talk to you before doing anything extra — nothing appears on an invoice that you have not already agreed.
Long-standing hard-water etching, cured paint overspray, a failed double-glazing seal: these are damage, not dirt, and no amount of cleaning fixes them. You will be told that when we look at the job, not after you have paid for it.
Exterior cleaning and glass work — that is the whole list. If you need a roof replaced or a fence stained, we will say so rather than take the job and work out the details afterwards.
This one is not our claim to make, so we will let the people who booked us make it instead. It is the single most repeated thing in our reviews.
We would rather show you these than describe ourselves. They are reproduced word for word.
He showed up promptly to give me a quote, and when we agreed to the price, he came right at the scheduled time for the work.
George is very conscientious and does excellent work. He will give a great price and actually show up on time to do the work.
Quite a few windows (high & low) on my one-story residence and all look better than they have in 20 years.
Cleaning windows in Plano is not the same job it is somewhere with soft water and no pollen season. Three things work against your glass here, and they arrive on a schedule.
Spring pollen coats everything for weeks and smears rather than rinsing off. Summer dust bakes on, and mixed with grit it will scratch glass if it is dragged across rather than lifted off. And hard water is the one that does lasting damage — sprinkler heads that catch the windows leave mineral deposits that etch into the surface over time. Left long enough, that stops being dirt and becomes permanent.
Knowing which of those you are looking at, and what will actually shift it, is most of the job. It is also why the cheapest quote is sometimes the expensive one: the wrong approach on etched glass or old screens creates a replacement bill.
